Investigator Island Anchorage

Entry to the anchorage is from north west between two fringing reefs jutting out from both headlands. A difficult anchorage in 20 – 25 knot S-SE winds as winds gust around the granite topped island. The anchorage is narrow and bordered by rock, mostly sand with some weed but is quite deep around 15 – 18 metres. We also had swell running between the gap on the southern end of the island causing quite a strong current through the anchorage. Not recommended for winds above 15 knots from the SE through to SW. The anchorage size is such that it wouldn’t be suitable for more than two vessels.
