Passage through the reef is clearly marked as is the passage to the mooring field. Only two moorings are owned and managed by the WA Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) all others are privately owned (primarily by charter companies). On two occasions the ‘main ball’ of our allocated mooring kept making its way between the hulls of Sea Goddess, at one point emerging out through the stern clanging against the inside of the port hull as it did so. Not something we have experienced before, and as we were concerned about the possibility of damage, we decided to give the mooring a miss and moved. We ended up anchoring on the southern side of the mooring field, great holding in sand. We had no issues while we were anchored even though at times it was very windy. PS We also contacted the DBCA representative about our move so that the mooring could be reallocated to another boat.
